TUESDAYS @ THE MODERN // this week and ongoing

TUESDAYS @ THE MODERN (Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth)

These lectures are on Tuesdays at 7pm (usually 1 hour).
You can get free tickets from the front desk of the museum.

The include artists, curators, architects, poets, etc. and you can write about your experience and the speaker for your 4 required write ups for the semester.

Advanced Painting :: 2 weeks to critique #1

Advanced Painting

Keep your eyes on Feb. 9th, our 1st Critique.

Intermediate: Hard Edges painting

Advanced: first choice painting

Advanced Final: first painting in your proposed group of paintings for the semester.

Drawing II : still life projects x 2

In Class Still Life Schedule (graphite/charcoal) x 2
1-28: work day 2-2: work day 2-4: critique (drawing due)

At Home Still Life (graphite/charcoal)
using your large drawing pad, set up a still life at home.
It should directional light and consist of at least one
reflective object (mirror, class, metal) and other objects that are reflexed
(and/or included in the still life)

You should start this for homework (rough sketch) and work on it until the critique day, when it will be due (2-4-2015).

Drawing II Monday Jan. 26th

SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENT :: Drawing as a record of actions, mapping your environment

1. Use your sketchbook to map your walk/commute to Moudy (or another interesting walk)

2. Along the way, as you are mapping, mark points-of-interest/things you notice.

3. Make 4 quick, gesture or contour sketches (one page each) for points of interest

due Monday, Jan. 26th.

Advanced Painting

1. Have first small painting complete

2. Have first major project painting started (Hard Edges, others)

3. Proposals for semester due for Advanced FINAL Semester People.

I will be in the Painting Studio on Friday morning @9am-10am to help with any last substrate building details!

Advanced Painting : constructing panels and stretchers, small paintings

Advanced Painting

Consult your individualized syllabi and check which small painting you should be starting. It varies from Intermediate to Advanced and Final Semester.

Also, you should be moving towards a finished panel. I will be around Moudy on Friday so I can open up the shop for tools and will ck into the studio around noon and again at 4pm.

You should be to have a finished panel on Weds so you can start your first project, which I will review and introduce to you on Weds the 21st.

DRAWING II : assignment : Weds Jan. 21st

Sketchbook assignment for Weds Jan. 21st

1. 2 blind contours of your friends

2. 1 blind contour portrait that you give away

2b. Instagram ( tag it #frogpainters) your portrait with it's subject (phone photo documentation if you don't do Instagram)

3. teach someone to do a blind contour drawing of you (in your sketchbook) That's 4 total Contour Drawings, you have a week to complete this assignment. #frogpainters
